The Challenge Results #3 February 2014

After a busy week, I'm finally sitting down to write up the results of my February challenge. I'll start by saying exactly what everyone else has said: where did February go?! I can't believe we're already at 11th March...

February's challenge was:

to drink 2-3 glasses of juice, and 3-4 glasses of water, per day

Let's start with the juice. I think I was partially influenced here by the amount of people I had seen doing juice cleanses. I can see all the benefits, and the fact it adds another portion of fruit to my daily total, but I have to day the amount of sugar in them was what was at the front of my mind throughout the month. I quickly settled on one glass a day, with my breakfast, and I think I'll stick at that level. Also, I'm so fussy! I've found a few juices I like, so I think I need to branch out more, to add in different fruits and vegetables.

In terms of drinking water, I've done pretty well. I upped my daily target to 6 glasses per day (+ one juice), and I tend to at least get through 4-5, even on a day I'm feeling a bit lazy about it. I have 100% noticed the difference here. Water is one of the only things I drink (no hot or fizzy drinks), so I think I was under the illusion I drank loads of it. In reality, I was sipping consistently, but not actually getting through enough of it.

I pretty quickly felt the difference. My skin has been better than I've ever seen it, and I just feel more energised. I'm finding it more easy to concentrate, and I feel more healthy.

Without a doubt, I will be continuing with my target of at least 6 glasses of water a day. I feel like I've got into the habit now, and I'm loving the benefits.

Are you good at keeping hydrated?

  1. I've been drinking way more water this year - but I do drink tea too which I want to try and cut out of my diet. I think I only drink it to fill me up a bit, but I hate that it colours my teeth! Also totally agree with the fruit juice. The only drinks I consume are water, tea and milk on a daily basis but fruit juice/alcohol when I'm feeling naughty (weekends!)

  2. Ah this is such a good idea. I try and drink as much water as I can but I prefer hot drinks all the time so basically live off green tea!
